Hero

Now i have this friend of mine-lets call him jere. He is a die-hard fan of tarantino and he believes he's the best thing to happen since deodorant!!!! so he recommends this movie to me HERO!

i borrow it. watch it....

CRAP!!!! i mean the string/cable work in the movie is excellent(better than crouching intern hidden cigar-sorry monica lewinsky- meant crouching tiger hidden draggon)

but that was it-i need more challengin stuff than fancy footwork...gone are the days where just action does the trick jere-grow up....

there was lip syncin in the dialogue since it was not shot in english!!! derrick and mexican soaps have better lip syncin!!!!!! i mean shouldnt they call milli vanilli for lessons?!

the voices used did not match the characters!!

the whole story was ...yawn!!!!!

u guys ebu watch it then we criticise the living daylights out of one of the most boring films of the year.

"how can 2 peope fight 1000's of bows and arrows and not even get hit by one???"

the movie lacks reality!!!!

CRAP CRAP CRAP!!!!!!

Tongue lashing is an understatement.. The screw me and my tarantino club was acceptable but the hero and pink thing was a low blow and since u wanna go that way let me please your ego.. I guess my tarantino club does not compare well to your "days of our lives club" Did you have your tear jerking sessions yet over the slow progress of your soap opera!!! Hmm.. I can see that your taste in movies is definitely questionable and indeed if you thought that the action was all that made the movie interesting you are wrong, stunts can be performed by anyone forbid me to say even you can with extra extra special effects. There was a complexity to the story which I would think passed your feebleness Nick, I know I know we all can't catch it and since u didn't I guess there's some truth to that.. Man you made me even comment on your blog... Yeah thats right!!You asked for it this time you... JM

movies like Hero were not made for shallow, cheap thrills seeking moviegoers like you. i see that the whole concept of oriental art flicks has gone overhead for you. i would strongly suggest that you refrain from commenting on something you have not understood in the least.

take a chill pill, go watch White Chicks or Vitimbi and be happy, that you have been entertained to your intellectual level.

Hey Nick, I saw Hero in September and it is interesting the way two people can have very different opinions on one thing. Please see below for what I said in my blog. I saw the movie with my bro-in-law and two newphews and their views matched yours exactly.

"Hero must be seen on a big screen. Hero (subtitled and not dubbed, thank God) leaves your senses assaulted by vivid, gorgeous colours, beauty, noise and balletic fight scenes. Hero is about honour, sacrifice, jealousy, love, intrigue and loyalty and the philosophy that nothing is ever as it appears."

I saw 'House of Flying Daggers' last night and I am considering blogging about it too. IMHO, these movies are folkloric and bear their own Chinese magical realism. We can enjoy them for what they are if we take this into account.

Pole for the long comment :-)

Nicko!! obviously you do not know class when you see it! ati Hero was mbaya?!Too deep for you huh!! I ought to come there and give you a lesson in movie appreciation. Then again, you probably would not get it, considering you are stuck in the "Scary Movie 2 was a classic" loony world. I pity the fool!hehehe! BTW can you imagine I went to watch the movie with Anne and she walked out near the end!!! you guys are definately kindered spirits. The movies is best watched in subtitles and sorround sound.Kapish. You can not get the nuances of the movie on your greatwall Black White TV. Get it together Nick. Get it together.
By the way, Have you watched Hidalgo? probably the worst movie ever made.I slept through the whole thing.First time I have ever slept through a movie in a theatre. Can you imagine Anne liked. I bet you probably would. tsk!!!

This is how movie reviews should be written..straight and to the point. I liked your simple conclusion. I have never been a fan of Tarantino nor did I have any desire to watch the movie...thanks for proving me right. Kui

For all of u misonformed folk, Tarantino had no role in filming directing or producing this flick..e merely promoted it so that it could penetrate the north American market.

Hero is a epic..beuatiful picture and sound and like mshairi so aptly puts,, is about Honour, pride etc etc. I suggest u borrow the LEGAL dvd(with 5.1 surround), or go to a movie theatre. U will be watching a different movie aki!
